I'm currently a shade certified L2 installer. I've installed a RA2 system in my own home for experimentation and learning purposes. So far it includes all of the interior and exterior lights, 2 zones of HVAC, and a few occ sensors. I've been looking at adding a visor control so I can integrate some AV equipment and security components with the contact inputs. The only problem is that it doesn't have many inputs.
As an interim measure, I cobbled together a small microcontroller project using a ZBasic device (http://www.zbasic.net/Microcontrollers/ZX-24s-Microcontroller/p-83.html) that allows me to connect 16 contact inputs. Each input triggers one of the first 16 phantom buttons of the main repeater. The interface to the repeater is via hardwired RS-232, and the commands are simply hardcoded into the microcontroller.
While it doesn't look very pretty, it does do what I need it to do. My question is if Lutron has, or is planning on making, anything similar to my contraption? Something with more than a handful of inputs/outputs.
