I always get a lot of requests/questions about a controllable receptacle. The appliance module is a great start, but it doesn't work for all scenarios. ( Where does it go?)
With all the talk lately regarding energy management, in my opinion, having a receptacle that can Turn off would be a big win. On/OFF functionality is all that would be required.
Putting a Current Transformer and reporting on energy use at the recepacle level would be a great "Level 2" application. I get a lot of requests for a residential "Green Screen". I'm sure this will show up in Homeworks QS before Ra2, but highly requested for sure! In my experience, people trying to be green want to show other people.

Thanks for the feedback. Forwarding to the Product and Engineering Managers for RA2.

hanshi- this was a big request from many people. It would make sense during X-10 replacement either in Ra2 or Maestro wireless.

I agree controlling a receptacle on its own would be very nice! I can definitely think of a lot of great uses. In fact, if you're using controllers, there's often little need for individual controls at switch height that clutter a wall.
While this isn't what you are asking for, I thought it might be useful to mention a product that few seem to know about for dimming receptacles within code: The Lutron "Receptacle and Plug for Dimming Use." I've used these years ago and like that you can have a plug-in solution that avoids bulky controls on the floor. Lutron model numbers: NTR-15-DFDU and NTR-20-DFDU for full receptacles with the special plug fitting and RP-FDU-10 plugs for lamps. They also have other variants.

The dimming receptacle is available in the designer series as well. See this link for complete part numbers. files.lutron.com/hwi/TRG/366-963h_components_dimming_receptacles.pdfThese receptacles would work with a RRD-6D or other Ra2 dimmer. Often times there are concerns with removing the plug end of a customer's fixture in order for it to be compatible with the dimming receptacle. It just depends on the installer.
