Appears the RadioRA2 software version 6.0 that has easier remote access capability came out before the iPhone/iPad oapp V 5.0.0 posted on the Apple App Store. I have upgraded to Software V 6.0 and still able to control my Lutron lighting system with the App v 4.1 both LAN, WiFi hot spot or 3G/4G connection anywhere in the world,
With lot of searching I found a Lutron document that said a VPN router was required. And there were instruction on how to configure a PPTP connection. I bought a nice Negear VPN router since my wireless router provided by cable company was a Netgear WNR1000v2. The VPN I bought was FVS318v3. When i started following the directions to configure the PPTP (Point to Point Tunnel Protocol) I discovered the Router I bought did not support PPTP config. Thanks Lutron for instructing the owner to be certain to buy a VPN Router that supports PPTP. I took your word to buy a VPN Router and is what I did.
My security cameras that I can access and view live and recorded history from anywhere in the world 3G/4G or WiFi uses Dynamic Domain Name Service DynDNS. So I set up a free one on dyn.com and configured my routers.
Don't really need a VPN but since I bought one I went to Netgear website and followed their instructions on how to link a VPN and Wireless Netgear router together. Main issued are assign new IP address to the wireless router. Connect VPN router to your DSL or Cable Modem then out port on VPN to an open port on the Wireless Router. Don't connect it to the "Network" port on the Wireless router. The Wireless router just becomes a a WiFi Extnender.
Go to Essentials Design Tab and find your Main Repeater and click on Find Main Repeater. Make sure DHCP shows Disabled and change the IP address to one within your Router range but high enough not to be assigned to another device. I have over 15 devices on my home network and if power goes out they can get new IP's assigned unless static.
In your router enter the Dynamic DNS you established on the free DynDNS site along with your user name and password. Under Rules on your Router Enable both Outbound and Inbound Telnet and HTTP. Under Services on your Router under Type add TCP and under Ports (TCP or UDP) enter the port number. I used 8080. Under LAN IP Setup "Reserved IP Table" Enter the IP address you assigned to the Main Repeater and enter the MAC address and the Device Name you assign. Look at the attached device list on your Router and you can see the MAC address by the IP address.
I believe that is all you need to do to allow you to use the iPhone/iPad or Android app to access and control lights from anywhwere you have phone service. I'm adding 20 new devices to my system and having trouble getting them recognized and assigned. My sunset sunrise time clock was working fine until upgraded to 6.0 but I'll work through that somehow. It is performing the Timed functions as designated by missing the Sunset and Sunrise settings. That worked fine before upgrading to 6.0 so may be a bug. I may just have to just make what was normally my Sunrise Sunset settings to a fixed time and modify frequently.
