So everyone is aware, it looks as though the release date for the RadioRA 2 Four Speed Fan Control (RRD-2ANF) has been moved back to mid-January 2013 from mid-December 2012.
List price is to be $199.

So mid January - are we still on target? What about 6.0?

Just heard from an important someone at Lutron, fan speed controls should be shipping if not now by end of the week. 6.0 (required to program into the system) should be ready beginning of February.

Looks like it supports only one fan? Would be nice to be able to control 2 or more fans from one switch to avoid adding more wall clutter. Won't work in my application if it takes multiple switches for two fans.

Thanks for the update Hanshi Can you give any info on KP controlling the fan. Will it be separate button for each speed,raise/lower, or one button with toggle? Or all of the above? Any setting like the thermo's to auto adjust for cool/heat?

Hypothetical situation. Have a Fan light combo on a 14/3 romex. Can I Mount a fan speed control and a hybrid keypad in a two gang and control both the light and the fan from that or any other keypad?

Thank You for sticking with this one! Can't wait for the remote access. I have been holding off a couple of clients since September.

Dave- yes you will be able provided you programmed for it. The shared neutral might give you trouble with LED lighting, though.

Thanks Bailey for the response. I sat in on a Lutron New product webinar today. A couple of my clients, along with myself are interested in the new remote access feature on the "Home Control " app. I was pretty surprised to hear that the feature is going to cost $59.95 a year. I think this is a mistake. I know that both of my clients are going to be upset about this. No one wants another monthly charge after they have committed thousands of dollars to have the system installed. NEST sells there thermostat for $230.00 and remote access is a feature of the product. One time fee might work. Monthly charge, doubt it. I hate to say it, but I think this will make the system tougher to sell.

Hahaha $60. Riiiiiiight Lutron.
We were told at CEDIA it would be "a buck or so a month"...oh wait, we were also told November 2012.
You're going to have a lot of pushback on this. I hope you have a patent so you can stop everyone else from doing port redirecting and managed dns.
I just bought a nannycam, and it provides access outside your house for free. The nanny cam was a about 2% of the cost of my ra2 system.
Customers hate control4 for holding features hostage based on annual $$. Now they will hate you too..
I guess now that several other companies are quite successful at selling lighting control, Lutron needs another revenue source to pay for that campus in a cornfield. Link to Post - Back to Top Logged

I'm a little torn on this. My first reaction was similar to dave and guy but then I thought about it. I'm actually paying for my Schlage locks and stats. That's $100/year. That being said it really pisses me off but the alternates aren't that great (Kwikset/Vera package is free but much clunkier).
I don't know that Lutron is out of line if it ends up being $60 but I probably wouldn't pay for it. I'm perfectly fine with the VPN access I have set up now. VPN is annoying but it gets the job done and its worth $60/year to me. That being said if Lutron offered a nice web portal like my Schlage system then I might consider it.
Now if only they would add Schlage locks to the system I'd be in heaven.

They want to charge homeowners to access their system from outside? Really? That's ridiculous. How is it related to any real cost or value? That's a perfect feature to help consumers get over the mental barrier of paying so much more for a RadioRA2 system vs. no automation or low-end systems. Charging for it almost entirely negates the selling point.

Let's look at this a bit differently. If you have the means/inclination/talent to hook up a VPN, then be all means, do so. No yearly fee and very secure. But what does ADT charge for their service? What price would a non-technical person pay to get this feature? It isn't required by any means, but if you want the access without the technical parts or know-how- then it will probably appeal to a majority of the non-technical homeowners.
