Ceiling Fan control for RA2 would be a nice addition. It would tie into the energy message, green button and HVAC control!

This is the answer I received back "It's on the list, but not for the immediate future."
Sort of frustrating in San Diego there is a HuGE opportunity for fan speed controls.

When talking about the desire for an RF Fan Control in RA2 can you answer the following to better describe the interest in the product?:
1. Is a canopy module acceptable? 2. Would you rather the device be modeled after the HRD-2ANF four speed design or the Maestro 7 speed? 3. Do you want just a fan control or the stacked fan/light? or both?

Would prefer not to use a canopy module. Device activation will require it to be accessible, which can be a pain in the ass with some fans, or fixture install & device install schedules. Of course it would be better than nothing. 2. Either is acceptable in my opinion. 3. Not required in my opinion, but could be a bonus for local controls. My main question would be how would control be integrated into seeTouch keypads? Could there be a fan toggle, similar to shades toggle that would go through the speeds? Maybe a double tab full on, if off, or full off, if on?

Why not make the fan control a device that speaks to the existing canopy module from the Maestro line? The seven speed Maestro works wonderfully as it is. Stacked devices would make the retrofit model for Ra2 more accessible to existing homes, much like the Maestro stack runs on 14/2 Romex.

This is a bone of contention right now with a home owner.
We are doing a pretty large RA2 system, and the home owner really wants control of fans in the gym, BBQ area, and Master bedrrom.
It would be nice to not have to remover the fan to install a canopy. Four speeds are great, but in the case of people that like control (more is better).
I do not think a stacked fan/light type of device is needed.

Come on now. We need answers on this. I had two requests for this today. One from a homeowner and one from a sub contractor. Sub already wired the fan to a remote location thinking he could control the fan from the KP. Told him, switch with no speed control, or non ra remote module are his choices.

I agree! I wish it was easy to control a fan versus saying you can only turn it on or off with a switch and have to use the chain for fan control. There has to be a better solution given all the progress they have made...

OK I have some good news....A person who I NAG on a regular basis about the fan speed control said and I quote "You will be happy soon"
I will do some more research today and keep you posted. It stands pretty close to what I heard at CEDIA from the project manager about a late Q1 early Q2 release.
